The local cycling club pays to use the upper loop of the V8 track for criterion.
Source: The Townsville Cycling Club's facebook page The upper loop is also a great place for parents to teach kids to ride, as documented on your blog. I have seen learner motorcyclists as well.
I like to train on the track after work as it is car free and familiarity hopefully will result in a bit of skill on those corners at speed. I have had more than one altercation with revheads who are incensed that a cyclist is using the V8 track, and I should "git orf it". I have sought the permission of the council though, and they assure me they are delighted for cyclists to train there as much as they want.
Now if they would just turn the pits into a farmers market like Rusty's in Cairns I would be a very happy taxpayer indeed.
